Embrace The Change In Seasons

DSC_6032We are just changing seasons here. Fall is here and Winter is around the corner which in this neck of the woods means snow. Scott and I don’t let Winter and the coldness and snowstorms keep us indoors. We embrace each season as it comes. Growing up as kids we were always outside skating on frozen ponds and sledding on hills I always enjoyed the crunchiness of the snow and the stillness of a blizzard. It was back in the days when you played outside all day and we loved it! Right now we are enjoying Fall. The leaves on some trees are just starting to change and we always appreciate Mother Nature’s beautiful plan. We both love Fall too. She is here. We plan many walks in the woods and on the beach and apple picking on a u-pick farm and choosing a pumpkin from a pumpkin patch. Mary’s message today is to embrace the change in seasons wherever you live on this planet.

Keep Nature Natural

Believe it or not an ATV just drove behind me

Ahhh…it’s big time fall in our neck of the woods right now. The leaves are changing and beginning to fall off of the trees.  You can smell fall in the air.  It’s apple picking time. It’s corn maze time.  The air temperature is great.

It’s that time of year when you know you only have a small window of opportunity to get out there and really enjoy the colours, the sounds, the smell of fall…so why would you want to ruin something like that?

Last weekend C and I went out to take it all in…we were not alone…there were other folks out enjoying nature as it was meant to be enjoyed…but there were also folks who had no problem ruining it for others, or even for themselves.

We noticed some people were not completely connecting with the experience by constantly checking their cell phones…or by wearing earbuds and listening to their ipod, or some other type of device.

There were people who decided that nature was great place to throw away a plastic bottle, wrapper, coffee cup, or drink can (or the one that got me the most was when people were kind enough to clean up after their dog, but then threw the bag into the woods). We noticed young children stomping on beautiful vegetation while their parents were ignoring them.  We noticed smokers (this is one I really don’t get…you’re out in nature breathing fresh air and what do you do…you decide to light up…it makes no sense to me).

And the big one that we ran into twice…while out embracing nature…while trying to connect to mother earth…at two separate locations we discovered people tearing up nature and polluting the fresh air driving all-terrain vehicles through or close to public walking trails.

…this week Mary wanted to remind us…if we want to connect with nature…connect with nature…leave the toys, devices, and litter at home.

A bird in the hand…

Blue Jay

…So in a recent message from Mary she connected me with the sounds of nature…as I closed my eyes and started the channeling process I could hear the birds in the garden…the playful and lyrical chirping noises of the various birds that live in the neighbourhood…the chickadees…the blue jays…the doves…the robins…the starlings…they all seemed to arrive at the same time and strike up a chorus.

Their music was beautiful…and what an amazing way to connect with nature. It was a great opportunity to let go of my thoughts and troubles and embrace the natural sounds that this earth provides us on a daily basis… if we just allow ourselves to listen. Replace those man made sounds that pollute the airwaves with what nature can provide. It’s healthy, it’s therapeutic, it reduces stress and helps us focus and connect with our hearts.

..so take a few minutes this weekend and throughout the week…turn off the music…leave your mobile devices behind…disconnect from the sounds of traffic and the noise in the city…find a nice quiet place to walk and listen to the sounds of nature…listen to the birds…the ducks…the waves…the babbling brook…the winds…the sounds of crunching leaves below your feet…and take a loved one to enjoy it with you. I guarantee time will stand still!!!

Are you in Denial?

Fall is here

Don’t deny yourself.

One of the problems with living in an area with four distinct seasons is that there is a risk that you will start living in denial. Summers in our neck of woods seem to go by way too quickly and recently “C” and I have been denying that summer is actually over and have been spending each weekend at the beach dipping our toes in the water…pushing the summer envelop as long as we can.

Reality is here and more importantly so is autumn. It is time for us to embrace the fall. The leaves have changed and they are spectacular. The vivid colours are amazing. The reds, the yellows, the oranges, the earth tones…they are all simply breathtaking.

In a recent message from Mary she wanted to remind us of how beautiful nature can be in many parts of the world during the fall…and that we should be out embracing the change of seasons…drink in the colours…they are more healing than you think…there is just something about the energy of this time of year…you need to embrace it…breath it in…connect with mother earth…recognize that making this connection can change your state of mind and increase your vibrations…enjoy it and don’t deny yourself the beauty and love that nature is providing us during this short time frame as the leaves start to fall.

Take your loved ones out and enjoy it together before it is too late.
